Completing seventy-two weeks this Friday...

We have some new words:
  • appo (her pronunciation of 'hippo')
  • eww
  • Elmo (the puppet and a general term for juice)
  • pee and poo (although she refuses to do either in the potty)
  • ball
  • 'ah ppuh' ('it hurts' in Korean)
  • eye and nose in Korean
  • doh (her pronunciation of 'star')
  • ba (her pronunciation of 'balloon')
  • up and down (which sometimes comes out as 'uhdaw')
  • 'moh' (which must mean 'shoes,' she says it to talk about her shoes)
  • moo (for cows)
  • bbah-bang ('car' in Korean)
  • 'that's hot' and 'that's cool' in Korean
  • bana (her pronunciation of 'banana')
Baby has been having tantrums recently, provoked by the slightest little things. Just saying 'no' to anything she wants will cause her to throw herself backward and scream, sometimes until she gags and eventually vomit. I want to believe this is just a phase and it will pass--fingers crossed. She is used to getting her way--thanks to the grandparents who cater to her every desire--but she needs to learn that it's not okay to yell and throw up just because you're not happy. (You know, some adults could stand to learn that lesson too.)

Baby's hair is getting longer! I'm excited that I can at least tie her hair into the standard baby girl sprout. You know, the hair gathered in the front and just tied straight up. It helps make her look like a girl. Otherwise, she looks very much like a boy. The other day, a neighbor said, "What's up, butch?" to her. I was appalled.

Haven't uploaded pictures recently because I'm waiting on a new laptop. It's been about a month, I think, since I posted any new ones.

We're going to New York to visit the FIL for the holiday weekend. He hasn't seen Baby in a few months, so I'm sure he's excited for the visit. It would be nice if Baby weren't so terribly shy, I know FIL wants to hold her. Don't know what the weather will be like there, but perhaps we can take a baby pool and let Baby splash around.

Coming up on sixty-eight weeks this Friday. We need updates!

Some new words in the vocabulary: bird, mine, 'A,' 'H,' and 'M.' She recognizes but can't yet say 'nose,' 'eye,' 'foot,' and 'hand' (in Korean). Baby saying 'mine' is rather funny. Sounds exactly like the seagulls in Finding Nemo.

I have lots of pictures still on the camera. I've been quite busy recently and haven't had time to upload. I'll get to it soon, as school is over this week.

Sixty-five weeks now!

I forgot to mention that Baby also says 'uh-oh.' :) We can now add 'orange,' 'bear,' 'bye bye,' and some Korean phrases (grandma, grandpa, 'ah so pretty').

I'll be done with work in a few weeks, then it's off to the pool with Baby!

We have completed sixty-three weeks, and we are about a week and a half from being fifteen months. Another doctor's appointment is in order.

Baby's vocabulary has expanded. She can now say 'oval,' 'yellow,' 'purple,' and 'piggy.' Grandma says she can also say 'apple,' but I haven't heard it yet.

We bought some pretty pink shoes for Baby, and she loves wearing them. When it's time to go out, we just show her the shoes and she comes waddling over. She still stumbles occasionally, but she has gotten very good at walking. Sometimes she forgets her own abilities and tries to run. Now I need to be even more vigilant when we're out because she has a tendency to walk away. On a related note, baby shoes are expensive. Fifty dollars?! I don't even pay that much for shoes.

Yesterday we bought some potties so begin training. Ideally, I'd like her to be out of diapers by the time she's two so we don't have to deal with diapers forever. And, I'd also like to have another baby soon, and I don't know if I like the idea of two babies in diapers. I'd be able to handle one in diapers and one in potty training. For now, Baby seems to think the potty is a chair for TV watching, and at other times a place to put her toys.

Baby is over whatever sickness was ailing her. Even though her doctor said it was pink eye, I don't really think it was. I think she had a head cold, and the congestion was making her eyes water. We've been fortunate that she has only been sick twice. Everyone is miserable when she is sick.

Baby has not been feeling well... Yesterday, she began running a fever. We had an interesting evening--I tried to cool her down with a cold towel, and she refused to have anything to do with that. I thought maybe I would be more successful with a cool bath, but she didn't expect the water to be cool. She ended up falling asleep, but she woke up with a fever again. I thought about taking the day off, but she's in good hands. I hope she's doing better today.

I forgot to mention that Baby can now take a few steps on her own! Waiting to get some better video of her toddling. She still prefers to hold someone's hand, but she will slowly walk to the wall or the table if she's close enough.

Spent the day at the zoo. Baby enjoyed the alpacas. We didn't get to pet any but they sure looked fuzzy. Baby had an opportunity to pet a goat, but she wanted no part in that.

We also had spaghetti for dinner. Baby had her first taste.

And some other pictures from the week--

And tomorrow, we will complete sixty weeks of poopy diapers.
